Edward Greene
Edward Greene, 69, Tecumseh, died Thursday, February 18, 2016, in an automobile accident at SW Sixth and Gage, Topeka. He was born August 19, 1946, in Topeka, the son of Merten Earl "M.E." and Velma Maxine (Bowls) Greene.
He started painting at the age of 13 and never stopped. He retired from the State of Kansas after 17 years of service at the University of Kansas. He was a huge Jayhawk fan and had a life-long love for stock-car racing.
Eddie was married to Dianah Lynn (Lobingier) Igercic on August 18, 1979, in Topeka. She survives of the home.
Also surviving are six children: Bradley Igercic of Topeka, Timothy Igercic of Tecumseh, Kevin Igercic of Topeka, Stacy Smith (Scott) of Tecumseh, Rebecca Igercic-Greene of Topeka, and John Igercic-Greene of the home; two brothers: Walter Greene and Eldon Greene both of Lawrence; fourteen grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Jim Greene and Bobby Greene, Sr.; and three sisters: Verta Marie Madison, Lola Mae Barnhill, and Helen Whitesell.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, February 24, 2016, at East Side Baptist Church, 4425 SE 29th Street, Topeka. Interment will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery, 3616 SW Sixth Street, Topeka.
Eddie will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Tuesday, at the Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Avenue, Topeka, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 PM.
