Edna Florence Chiles
Edna Florence Chiles, 83, of Topeka,KS, died February 2, 2014, at Stormont-Vail Hospital, Topeka. She was born September 19, 1930, in Brown County, KS, the daughter of George August and Gertrude Elizabeth (Miller) Pautz.
She graduated from Willis Rural High School in 1949, and Stormont-Vail School of Nursing in 1952. Edna retired from Stormont-Vail. She was a member of Oakland Presbyterian Church. She was an avid quilter.
Edna was married to George Vernon Chiles on November 3,1951 in Topeka. He preceded her in death on June 8, 2007. She was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Gail Chiles.
Surviving are two sons: George Westley "Wes" Chiles (Eva) and Ralph Whitney Chiles; a sister: Iva Babcock; a brother: Chester Pautz; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be at 10:00 AM, Thursday, February 6, 2014, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence. Private interment will be in Rochester Cemetery, 1200 NW Menninger Road, Topeka, KS.
Edna will lie in state from 3:00 to 7:30 PM, Wednesday, at the funeral chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Oakland Presbyterian Church, 2810 NE Thomas, Topeka, KS 66616-1527 or National Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, 920 Main Street, Suite 280, Kansas City, MO 64105.
