Edith Ruth Myers, 90, Topeka, died Friday, July 12, 2013, at Lexington Park. She was born January 26, 1923, in Oxford, Iowa, the daughter of Gerald Chauncey and Ruth Edith (Walters) Salyer.
She graduated from Topeka High School and Clark's Business College. Edith retired from the admitting office at Stormont-Vail Hospital. She then volunteered at the hospital for over 20 years.
Edith was an active member of Topeka First Assembly of God Church.
She was married to Lewis E. Myers on June 13, 1943, in Topeka. He preceded her in death on July 3, 1960. She was also preceded in death by a son: Lewis E. Myers II in 1995.
Surviving are two sons: Terry A. Myers (Donna) and Wendell M. Myers (Carol) all of Topeka; two brothers: Don Salyer of Auburn and David Salyer of New York; two grandchildren: Wendell Myers, Jr. (Melinda) and Melissa Smith (Mikel) all of Topeka; and five great-grandchildren: Haley, A.J., and Isabella Myers and Jacob and Emily Smith.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Avenue. Interment in Topeka Cemetery.
Edith will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Monday, at the funeral chapel where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 PM.
