Edith M. Houser, 82, of Topeka passed away on May 8, 2024. Edith had suffered a massive stroke in April before passing. She was born October 7, 1941 in Wakefield, Kansas the daughter of Howard D. and Eunice R. Clifton. She was raised in the Oakland area, surviving the 1966 Topeka tornado which ravaged her neighborhood and destroyed her childhood home. She attended State Street Elementary School, Holiday Junior High and graduated from Topeka High school in 1959. She was married to Gale “Ottis” Milholen in 1964, they later divorced. She later married Billy Ray Houser. Edith was a hard worker, she always had a job, supporting her family. She worked at KNI, Washburn, Topeka Presbyterian Manor, and retired after 25 years with the Kansas Army National Guard. She was discharged in 1999. While working at the guard, she also worked part time at Vista. Following retirement she worked at Chick-fil-a. Edith enjoyed history, and reading.

She is survived by her daughter and caregiver, Margaret Lynne Hartman of Manhattan; grandchildren, Lawrence Cobler of Topeka, Deborah Cobler of Manhattan, Todd Cobler of Lawrence, Jennifer Wall of Manhattan, Heather Hartman of Manhattan, Trey Hartman of Manhattan, Stephenie Milholen Topeka, Kevin Davenport of Topeka; great grandchildren, Amy Huckstep of Topeka, Alicia Huckstep of Topeka, Kayden Gale of Holton, Alyssa Cobler of Topeka, Amber Huckstep of Topeka, Abigail Cobler of Topeka, Braden Cobler of Topeka, Landyn Cobler of Topeka, Monica Cobler of Derby, DeClan of Wamego, Nevaeh Morris of Topeka, Lilly Morris of Topeka, Julian Morris of Topeka; great-great grandchildren, Dakota, Kinnzleigh and Kayleigh, Kevin Jr. and Ragon, Kev'Ali, Larissa, Zayden, Sophia, Jayden and Josiah; two brothers, Harvey Raymond Killam (Diane) of Overland Park, Kansas, Roy Eugene Killiam of Topeka; one sister, Lois Virginia Sweatt (David) of Topeka, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her son, Mitch in 2015, granddaughter, Roxanne in 2013; her parents; two brothers, Howard Daniel Killiam, Jr. (Barbara), Phillip Richard Killiam; and one sister, Ruth Esther Killam.

Funeral services will be held at Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints, 2401 SW Kingsrow, Topeka KS 66614 at 11:00 am on Monday, May 13, 2024. The family will receive friends Monday morning at the church, beginning at 10:00 am. Cremation will follow the funeral service. Parker-Price and Davidson Cremation and Funeral Services is assisting the family.
