OBITUARY: Edgar "Dean" Burroughs
Edgar "Dean" Burroughs, 93, Grantville died Monday, June 13, 2005 at his home. He was born Nov. 11, 1911 at Grantville the son of Edgar Daniel and Lilly May (Enochs) Burroughs. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Betsy Nell.; and a step-grandson.
Mr. Burroughs served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a farmer and had served on the Jefferson County Regional Planning Commission. He was a member of the Grantville United Methodist Church; Loyal Order of Moose, Lodge # 555; Perry American Legion Post # 142; and the Combat Air Museum.
On December 29, 1964 he was married to Alice Lucille Canter Sharp at Grantville. She preceded him in death on Aug. 22, 2004.
Surviving are 4 step-daughters: Dolores Sharp and Anita Sharp both of Topeka; Madeline Tollefson of Lecompton; and Lori Sharp of Littleton, CO; 4 step-grandchildren; and 7 step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Thurs., June 16, 2005 at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, North Topeka followed by military honors conducted by Perry American Legion Post # 142. Cremation will follow.
