Eddie Dewayne Traphagan

Eddie D. Traphagan, 73, of Carbondale passed away on Sunday October 8th, 2023. He was born on July 31st, 1950 to William & Flossie (Chase) Traphagan in Topeka, KS.  In 1969, Eddie joined the United States Navy where he served during the Vietnam War. In 1978, he married Deborah Cohorst in Blue Rapids, KS. Eddie worked at Goodyear Tire & Rubber until he later retired. He was also a member of Assembly of God Church.

Eddie will be remembered for loving his family, and always speaking what was on his mind, whether good or bad. He enjoyed retail therapy, fishing and pretending to hunt. He was also known for his passion for food.

Preceding Eddie in passing are his Parents; Daughter, Alexia Traphagan; Brothers Billy Traphagan, Don Traphagan; & Russell Traphagan, and Sisters Betty Anthony; Loretta Roberts; & Charlotte Holiday.

Surviving Eddie is his Wife of 45 years, Debbie; Sons Aaron Traphagan (Darrien) of Overbrook KS; Ashton Traphagan (Talisha) of Carbondale, KS;  & Auston Traphagan (Monica), Daughters Courtney Traphagan of Steilacoom, WA; Alissa Griffin (Matt) of Delia, KS; Amber Ybarra (John) of Topeka, KS; & Abree Traphagan (Marshall) of Carbondale, KS. Eddie is also survived by his Brother, Galen Traphagan (Lisa) of Topeka, KS, and his Sister, Donna Koerner (Gary) of Topeka, KS. He also leaves behind his Grandchildren Brenden, Patrick, Marshall, Elliot, Ava, Ember, Hugh, Braxton, Max, Vincent, Malaki, & Maddox.

The family will receive friends for visitation from 5-7pm on Friday, October 13th, at Carbondale Church of Christian Fellowship, 430 Commercial Street, Carbondale. A Funeral Service will be held at the Church on Saturday, October 14th, at 10am. Burial will follow at Carbondale Cemetery. Memorial Contributions can be made to The Ronald McDonald House.
