Earl Samuel Woodard, 88, of Topeka, passed away on February 22, 2022 at home.
Earl was born on June 22, 1933 to David and Ruth (Mills) Woodard in Foreman, Arkansas.
He graduated from Perry High School. After graduation he joined the United States Army from 1952-1955 until being honorably discharged. After service he worked various jobs but then became a Earthmover Tirebuilder at Goodyear Tire and Rubber. He worked at Goodyear for 30 years before retiring in 1991. Later he became a real estate agent working part time for 20 years.
He married his first wife, Melba Michael who preceded him in death in 2001. On June 15, 2002, he married Betty Woodard (Porter).
He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. Earl also loved to garden his tomato plants in his backyard. Earl and his wife attended Shawnee Heights Baptist Church. When he turned 80, he attended Washburn Tech and earned his certificate in Home Health. He enjoyed working with his clients while he was able.
Earl is survived by his loving wife, Betty; children, David (Anna) Woodard, Troy (Kelly) Woodard and Tammy Woodard; step children, Kathy (Ervin) Niedfeldt, David Burget, Richard Burget, and Tim Burget; brother, Henry Woodard; grandchildren, Ashlee (Devon) Carson and Dakota (Clarissa) Woodard; and 9 step grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents; sister, Edith Gordon; brother, Cecil Woodard; and his step grandson, Jeffrey Niedfeldt.
Memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2022, 11:00 am at the Parker-Price Funeral Home.
