Earl L. Sharrai, 82, of Topeka, passed away, Friday, November 18, 2005 at the Frankfort Community Care Home in Frankfort, Kansas. He was born November 16, 1923 in Topeka, Kansas the son of John Harvey and Lena May Getty Sharrai. Earl's mother passed away when Earl was three. He was raised by his step-mother Elinor Maude Sharrai.
Earl graduated from Highland Park High School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company for 42 years retiring in 1988.
He was a member of the American Legion Capitol Post #1 and Rubber Workers Local #307.
He married Jean M. Norlin, September 17, 1950 in Topeka, Kansas. She survives of the home.
Earl was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Helen Irene Kern and a great-grandson Colby Marcus.
Other survivors include a daughter, KarenSue Sharrai Alber, Frankfort; two sons, Leslie Earl Sharrai and John Edward Sharrai, both of Topeka; nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 22, 2005 at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel in North Topeka. Interment will be in Penwell-Gabel's Memorial Park Cemetery where military honors will be conducted by a U.S. Army funeral detail from Ft. Riley.
Mr. Sharrai will lie in state after 3:00 p.m., Monday, November 21, 2005 at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel where the family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
