Earl Dean Smith, 89, Topeka, died January 5, 2015, at Midland Hospice House, Topeka.
Earl was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving in WW II and Korea. He was an iron worker. Earl was a member of Faith Family Life Centre.
He was married to Alice "Vivian" Merrill. She preceded him in death on October 31, 2004.
Survivors include a daughter: Carol Wilcoxson (Larry) of Lawrence; a son: Terry Smith (Karla) of Loreto BCS, Mexico; half-siblings: Bernard Smith (Claudene) of Montrose, CO, Maynard Smith (Betty) of Scranton, Carolyn Strohm (Dean) of Burlingame, and Charlotte Rowe (Paul) of St. Cloud, FL; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM, Friday, January 9, 2015, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Avenue, Topeka. U.S. Navy Honors will be conducted at West Lawn Memorial Gardens, 820 SW Auburn Road, Topeka.
Earl will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Thursday, at the funeral chapel where the family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 PM.
