Duane Aaron Neiswender, 94, of Topeka, passed away on March 22, 2023 at his home, surrounded by his family.
He was born on March 12, 1929 to Robert and Alice (Ables) Neiswender in Topeka, Kansas.
Duane graduated from Seaman High School in 1947. He worked as a glass glazier his entire life, working for Pittsburgh Glass and Harding Glass in Topeka, several glass shops in the Kansas City area, different hotels in New York, Wisconsin, and Missouri, and City Glass and Mirror Inc. in Topeka. He also owned and with the help of his friend, Keith Hug and family, ran the farm in the Jackson County area.
On June 4, 1949 he married Marilyn Marlene Reed in Topeka. She preceded him in death on September 11, 2002.
Later, Duane married Joyce Neiswender (Thomasson) on January 21, 2006.
He was a Life Member of Glazier and Glassworkers Local Union No. 558, Topeka Moose Lodge No. 555 and was a past Governor from 1990-1991. He received a Pilgrim Degree and was the President of the Kansas Moose Association from 1997-1998, Legion Ambassador from 1997-1998 of the International Moose, Golden Rule #90, Arab Shrine, and Sons of the American Legion Post I.
He loved to fish and hunt and was an avid fan of K-State Basketball and Football.
Duane is survived by his wife, Joyce; children, Michael (Kimberly) Neiswender, Cindy (Rick) Slocum, Patti (Chuck) Mohney, and David (Kari) Neiswender; 9 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild on the way. He is also survived by step-daughter Kathryn Spain (Jerry), step-son Rick VanDonge (Laura), and two step-granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marilyn M. Reed; children, Sherrilyn Sue and Linda Kay; his granddaughter, Whitney Paige Mohney, and 2 brothers, Donald Neiswender and Robert Neiswender Sr.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at 11:00 am at Parker Price Funeral Home. The family will greet friends one hour prior, at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at the Rochester Cemetery in Topeka.
Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Hospice Care or to the Arab Shrine Temple in Topeka, Kansas.
