Duane Lee Johnson
Duane Lee Johnson, 67, Topeka, died Sunday, August 3, 2014, at his home. He was born March 7, 1947, in Topeka, the son of Carl Alfred and Doris Jean (Cook) Johnson.
He attended East Indianola Grade School and was a 1965 graduate of Seaman High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Duane was a licensed plumber and worked for Tom Chaffee in Topeka and later in Dallas, Texas. He owned a remodeling business
.
Duane was a member of Seaman Congregational Church and a former member of Topeka North Post # 400 of the American Legion.
He was married to Brenda Jo Hahn on August 6, 1976, in Topeka.
Surviving are his wife: Brenda Jo Johnson of Lawrence; sons: Billy Johnson of Lawrence and Pete Williams of Kansas City, MO; daughter: Michelle Duncan (Brian) of Kansas City, MO; his parents: Carl and Doris Johnson of Leawood; sister: Vickie Willett (Walter) of Leawood; four grandchildren: Christopher and Dylan Duncan, and Jaiana and Zachary Johnson; and three nephews: Jason Willett of Leawood, Justin Willett (Emily) of Kansas City, MO, and Joshua Willett of Kansas City, MO; a great-niece: Olivia Rose Willett of Kansas City, MO; an aunt: Betty Jean Cook of Topeka; and an uncle: Ted T. Lyons of Belton, MO.
Memorial services will be at 5:00 PM, Thursday, August 7, 2014, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Avenue, Topeka, KS. The family will receive friends following the service.
Private interment of cremains will be in Rochester Cemetery, 1200 NW Menninger Road, Topeka, KS.
