Dr. Gilbert Elton Wehmeier, 91, of Overbrook, passed away on February 23, 2021.
He was born on December 8, 1929 to Walter and Flora (Brunkhorst) Wehmeier in Wheaton, KS.
On September 26, 1952 he married Elvera Wehmeier (Herpich).
Gilbert served in the United States Army and the Army Reserves, where he was honorably discharged.
He graduated with his Doctorate Degree in Education from Kansas University. He worked in the USD 501 School District and was an educator for over 40 years, where he retired. Gilbert also worked with the Rebek Paint Group, painting houses in the summers.
After retirement, Gilbert loved to work on the farm and enjoyed to deer and pheasant hunt. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Topeka.
Gilbert is survived by his loving Wife, Elvera, Children, David (Georgia) Wehmeier, Carolyn Craver, Jaylene (Daniel) McFaul; Brother, Melvin (Frances) Wehmeier; Sister, Norma (Wayne) Fearey; and 7 Grand Children and 8 Great Grandchildren; as well as a host of extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Wehmeier and Flora Wehmeier, Brothers, Walter Wehmeier and Robert Wehmeier; and Sisters, Gertrude Danielson and Lois Boerger.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 26, 2021, at Faith Lutheran Church, 1716 SW Gage Blvd, Topeka, KS 66604.
