OBITUARY: Doyle Gene Pepper
Doyle Gene Pepper, 70, of Topeka, KS, died Thurs., Jan. 27, 2011, at Midland Hospice House after a short illness. He was born July 4, 1940, at Broseley, MO, the son of Phillip H. and Carrie A. (Reeves) Pepper. Doyle lived most of his life in Mammoth Spring, AR; Meriden, KS; and Topeka, KS, area. He was employed for 5 years at Hallmark Cards in KC, MO, and then managed the food and vending service at the Goodyear Plant for 13 years before acquiring his own business, Drink-O-Mat Vending Company, in 1976, which he was part of for 34 years. He served in the U.S. Army and U.S. Army Reserves. He was a member of NAMA and an officer of MAMA. Survivors include: wife, Carolyn, of 48 years; a daughter: Karla Bradford (William) of Meriden, KS; a son: Roger Pepper (Gwen) of Topeka, KS; a daughter: Ronda Kempf (Mark) of Linn Creek, MO; 7 wonderful grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; 2 sisters: Margaret Clark-Ritchie of KC, MO and Frances Clark of Rockford, IL; and 2 brothers: David Pepper of Dover, AR, and Dale Pepper of Mammoth Spring, AR. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Saunders. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM, Wed., Feb. 2, 2011, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave., Topeka. Interment in Meriden Cemetery. Doyle will lie in state from 3:00 PM, Tues., to 1:00 PM, Wed., at the funeral chapel after which time the casket will remain closed. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 PM, Tues., and from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM, Wed., at the funeral chapel.
