Dorothy Virginia King

March 19, 1928 — February 20, 2012

Dorothy Virginia (Rice) King, 83, Topeka died Monday, February 20, 2012 at a Topeka hospital.
Dorothy was born March 19, 1928 at Olpe, KS, the daughter of Clifford Earl Rice and Juanita (Dunn) Peach.
She was a jeweler for many years in Topeka, starting out at Briman's, then Wolf's and retiring from Bailey, Banks & Biddle.
She was a member of Seaman Congregational United Church of Christ and American Legion Post 400.
She married David Eugene King on October 3, 1943. He preceded her in death on October 4, 1995. Survivors include daughter, Marcia (Danny) Sales, Topeka; son, Francis "Sandy" (Carol) King, Delia; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Howard Rice, Robert Rice; and sister, Karen Oram. She was preceded in death by a sister, JoAnn Rankin; and brother, Gaylord Rice.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb 25, 2012 at Penwell-Gabel Parker Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence. Burial will follow at Rochester Cemetery. Dorothy will lie in state at the funeral home after 3:00 p.m. on Friday and visitation will be from 6:00-7:30pm.
