Dorothy Rigsby

Dorothy Rigsby, 84, of Topeka passed away on Saturday, June 20, 2020. She was born May 9, 1936 in Topeka the daughter of Curtis and Cormor Esther Brown Bailey.   She lived most of her life in Topeka.   She met her husband Charles “Chuck” Rigsby while he was stationed at Forbes Air Force Base.   They were married on May 28, 1956.   In earlier years, Dorothy and her family would go see Chuck’s family in Macon County, Tennessee for the weekend.   She enjoyed going up to Thunder Hill and watching her family who raced cars there.   In later years, she enjoyed sitting in her swings, waving at friends who drove up Happy Hollow, and watching soap operas.

Mr. Rigsby preceded her in death in November of 2004.

She is survived by her family which includes: son, Kevin Rigsby and wife Marilyn of Topeka; Kevin’s children, Bryan Rigsby and girlfriend Alyssa, Cody and Hannah Rigsby and their boy Braison, Koby Rigsby and Shelbi Rigsby; son, Wayne Rigsby; daughter, Barbara Rigsby. Barbara’s daughter Mendy Johnson and Mendy’s son Jayden Johnson; son Jeffery Rigsby and his wife Penny, Jeffrey’s children, Kenny and his wife Autumn, Ashley, Preston and Conner and Jeffrey’s grandchildren, Kade, Ava, Rylan, Dylan, Blakeley, Madison and Brianna.

She was preceded in death by her eight brothers and sisters.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, June 27, 2020 at Rochester Cemetery. Services can be viewed on Facebook Live at the Davidson Funeral Home & Cremation Services Facebook page. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday evening at Davidson Funeral Home. We encourage everyone to wear a face mask while attending services.
