Dorothy Jane Priddy, age 102, passed away Tuesday, November 27, 2018 in Topeka. She was born March 27, 1916 at Silver Lake, Kansas one of seven children born to Byrd Layfette and Florence Nightingale Forbes Phillips. Dorothy graduated from Seaman High School with the class of 1934. She ran the Seaman High School cafeteria for three years and later was a secretary at the Kansas Department of Transportation where she retired in 1978.
She was a member of Northland Christian Church. She was active with Bethel 4-H and the Shawnee County Extension Service where she served on the Board of Directors. She was also a member of the Beulah OES and the Women of the Moose Lodge. She was a prolific woodcarver, quilter, artist and cook.
Dorothy married John Dana Priddy on the family farm on March 14, 1937. He passed in September of 1992.
Survivors include her son, Darrell (Mary Guynes) Priddy of Topeka; daughter, Cynthia (Jim) Kesler of Topeka; brother, Bob (Carol) Phillips of Topeka; and a sister, JoAnn Gerety of Topeka. She is also survived by four grandsons, Darren Priddy, Brian Kesler, Nathan Kesler and Mark Kesler; six great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday, December 3, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the Northland Christian Church. Interment will be held at Prairie Home Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. at the Davidson Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Northland Christian Church or Topeka North Outreach in care of Davidson Funeral Home.
