Dorothy Mae (Pfiester) Lindeman, 96, of Topeka, passed away Monday, March 18, 2024.
She was born March 13, 1928, in Corning, Kansas, the daughter of Ernest and Julia (Hoppe) Pfiester. She grew up on the family farm, graduating from Corning High School in 1946.
She was employed at Palmer News as a Warehouse Supervisor for over 25 years. She was an Air Force wife for 26 years; following Chester to the Philippines, Camp Atterbury Indiana, Chanute and Rantoul, Illinois, Forbes Field, Topeka, the Azores, Oxnard,California and Syracuse, New York. Chester retired from the Air Force in 1965 and settled in Topeka to be with Dorothy's parents and his parents.
Dorothy married Chester L. Lindeman on May 30, 1947. He preceded her in death in 1989. She is survived by her sisters Mary Pfiester and Marjorie Crisp. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Evelyn, Raymond, Peggy, and Norma.
The early death of Chester set her on the path of caring for her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was extremely proud of all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The Topeka area grandchildren and great grandchildren were especially spoiled by her.
Dorothy was one of the rare individuals who never got a driver's license. It was a great plan; she always had a family member with her everywhere she went. She loved dogs and provided a loving family for them throughout their lives. The Thanksgiving Dinner's at her house was one of the top events on her family's calendar. She would want everyone to smile, as she always did.
Cremation is planned. Graveside Service will be 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 28, 2024, at the Mount Hope Cemetery & Funeral Chapel, 4700 SW 17th St., Topeka.
