OBITUARY Dorothy Jeanette Long
Dorothy Jeanette Long, 84, Topeka, died Thurs., Oct. 22, 2009, at Midland Hospice House. She was born Nov. 9, 1924, in Topeka, the daughter of Charles E. and Helen M. (Fultz) Snook. Dorothy graduated from Topeka High School. She was a loving and proud mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved the outdoors and gardening. Dorothy was married to Laurence Dale Long on May 15, 1945. She is survived by her children Lanette Scurlock and Larry Long of Topeka and Lisa Long of Silver Lake, nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, her sister Ruth Newman, and brother Phillip "Roy" Snook. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and siblings Louise Snook, Rudy Whiteside, Charles "Sonny" Snook and Lucille Smith. A memorial/sharing of memories service will be at 5:30 PM, Mon., Oct. 26, 2009, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel with visitation to end at 7:30 PM. Graveside services will be at 10:00 AM, Tues., Oct. 27, 2009, at Rochester Cemetery, 1200 NW Menninger Road. Dorothy will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Mon., at the funeral chapel.
