Dorothy Irene Mummert, 87, of Topeka, passed away Sunday, January 5, 2014.
She was born January 5, 1927, in Richland, Kansas, the daughter of Alva Preston and Ada Alice (Vreeland) Oldham. She was a 1945 graduate of Richman High School, Richman, CA.
Dorothy was a member of Northland Christian Church and participated in the Goodyear Retirees Club.
Dorothy married Lauren H. Mummert on November 26, 1948 in Overbrook, KS. He preceded her in death on January 28, 2004. Survivors include a daughter, Kathryn Mummert, Denver, CO; a grandson, Nicholas Snyder; and a sister Margaret Liggett, Berryton, KS.
The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m., Friday, January 10, 2014 at the Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave, Topeka, with a graveside service to follow at the Rochester Cemetery, Topeka. Memorial contributions may be made to Northland Christian Church, 3201 NW Topeka Blvd, Topeka, KS 66617 or to Topeka Rescue Mission, 600 N. Kansas, Topeka, KS 66608.
