Dorothy L. Fleenor, 89 of Topeka passed away Friday, March 25, 2005 at Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center. She was born April 29, 1915 in Topeka. She was the daughter of Ernest and Lottie Farnsworth Sechrist.
She graduated from Seaman High School in 1932 and attended Strickers Business College and Wichita University. She worked for a number of years at Graves Truck Line and later as a secretary for the State of Kansas Department of SRS. She was a member of Northland Christian Church in Topeka.
She married Clifford B. Fleenor on July31, 1937 in Meriden. Clifford passed away May 26, 1988. In 1978 after retirement she and Clifford moved to Mesa Arizona. She returned to Topeka in 1989 and has been a resident of Brewster Place Retirement Center since her return.
She is survived by a son Gary Fleenor and his wife Patricia of Topeka; two sisters, Velma Rice, Topeka; Josephine Briery of Sun City, AZ; a brother, Donald Sechrist, Redding, CA; four grandchildren, Julie Lamott and Christine Gordon, both of Topeka, Jon Fleenor of Fairway, KS; and Jeffrey Fleenor of Shawnee, KS; and seven great-grandchildren, Jarrod, Lauren, Michael, MacKenzie, Mallory, Madison and Emily.
Mrs. Fleenor will lie in state after 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 30, 2005 at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel at 245 NW Independence Ave. Topeka where the family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
A funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 31, 2005 at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel . Interment will be in West Lawn Memorial Gardens.
