Dorothea Jones

Dorothea M. Jones, 80, Topeka, passed away on Friday, November 16, 2007.
She was born March 12, 1927 in Baker, N.D., the daughter of Russell and Chestie (Hartman) Simmons.
Dorothea married Virgil L. Jones on December 14, 1947 in Bantry, N.D. Virgil preceded her in death on March 14, 1988.
She worked as a nurse's tech at Stormont-Vail Hospital, retiring after 25 1/2 years of service on August 1, 1983.
Dorothea was a member of Seaman Baptist Church; the Stormont-Vail Retiree's and Papan Senior Center.
Survivors include one daughter, Janice (Bill) Burcham; three sons, Myron; Ron (Andrea); and Dwayne (Brenda) Jones, all of Topeka; one brother, Ralph Simmons; 2 granddaughters; 3 grandsons; 8 great-grandchildren,and 1 great-great granddaughter.
Dorothea was preceded in death by 3 sisters and 4 brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 20, 2007 at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence, Topeka. She will lie in state after 4:00 p.m., Monday where the family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
