Doris Leola Prochaska

Doris Leola Prochaska, 96, of Topeka, passed away Friday, July 5, 2024, surrounded by her family at Midland Hospice in Topeka.

She was born October 25, 1927, in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of John Lloyd and Fairy Belle (George) Frey. She was a graduate of Silver Lake High School.

She was a member of Bethel Community Church, Topeka.

Doris married Robert Neal Prochaska on April 16, 1945 in Topeka, Kansas, they celebrated 75 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on December 22, 2020. Survivors her children John (Teresa) Prochaska, Leanea (Randy) Wales, Trudy (Kirk) Kelly, Patty (Rick) Howell, Danny (Linda) Prochaska, and Diana Prochaska; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Earl Frey, Irene Kolde, Helen Kirkwood, Georgia Bentley and Dorothy Root.

Doris loved spending time with family and attending her grandchildren’s sporting events. She enjoyed playing cards, puzzles, sewing, gardening, bird watching, being outside, bowling and served on various bowling leagues. She was also an avid KU Basketball and KC Royals fan.

Honoring her request, cremation is planned. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at Bethel Community Church, 6944 NW Landon Rd. Topeka, Kansas 66618, followed by a celebration of life ceremony at 11:00 a.m.

Parker-Price& Davidson Funeral Home in Topeka is assisting the family. A committal service will be held at Prairie Home Cemetery, Topeka.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethel Community Church or to Midland Care, 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka, KS 66606.
