Doris J. Anderson

Doris Anderson, 90, of Topeka, formerly of Silver Lake and Osage City, passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2020.  She was born April 3, 1929 in Beverly, Kansas, the daughter of Creed T. and Hallie E. Hays Queen.  Her family settled in the Grove area of Northwest Shawnee County and Doris graduated from Silver Lake High School.
She retired from the Federal Highway Administration in Topeka.  She loved to travel worldwide and had made numerous trips to her favorite travel destination, Ireland.  She also enjoyed fishing and the outdoors.  Doris loved her many pets through the years and Princess was one of her favorite cats.  While living in Osage City Doris and Evelyn enjoyed helping elderly neighbors and friends with odd jobs, yard work and chores.
She is survived by her lifelong companion Evelyn Riley of Topeka, and numerous nieces, nephews and their children.
Doris was one of eleven children in her family growing up.  She is preceded in death by all ten of her brothers and sisters.  They include her twin brother, Donald “Pete”, Marion “Joe”, Geraldine, Ruth, Calvin, Imogene, Betty, Bill and two infant brothers, Willard and Charles.
Private family graveside services will be held at Walnut Hill Cemetery north of Silver Lake.   Memorial contributions may be made to the Helping Hands Humane Society, 5720 SW 21st Street, Topeka, Kansas 66604, or to the Humane Society of the Flint Hills in Emporia, 215 W. 6th Street, Emporia, Kansas 66801. davidsonfuneral.com
