Donna D. Ward, 88, of Topeka, passed away on December 15, 2022 at Stormont Vail Hospital.
She was born on May 17, 1934 to Mary Long in Dresden, KS. She graduated from Oberlin High School in Oberlin, Kansas in 1953. After graduation Donna provided for her family being a homemaker. Later in life she worked for the United States Postal Service working as rural mail carrier until her retirement in 1999.
Donna was known for her love of all sports. She enjoyed watching her favorite teams, professional and collegiate, like the Kansas City Chiefs, Kansas City Royals, New York Yankees, Kansas Jayhawks, and K-State Wildcats. She also enjoyed watching tennis and golf and was a big Tiger Woods fan. Her love of sports extended to her children and grandchildren. She spent many hours supporting their participation in sporting activities, giving advice and encouragement. She also enjoyed gardening and working in the yard. Donna was also a long time member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church in Topeka.
Donna is survived by her loving children, Doye (Steve Pruitt) Williams, Danette (Sam) Martin, Dayle (Joe) DiGeorge, Dustan (Helen) Ward, and Derrie Wade; grandchildren, Jessica (Hector) Ramirez, Samuel "Collin" (Alex) Martin, Katie (Hunter) Portmann, Nicholas Wade, Alec Ward, Matthew Wade, Dustin Ward, and Declan Ward; 13 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her mother.
Memorial visitation will be held at Parker-Price Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 20, 2022 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Sunrise Optimist Club Youth Program or to the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church and sent in care of Parker Price Funeral Home.
