Donna Palmer, 90, of Center Point, lowa, formerly of Topeka, Kansas, died Friday, December 9, 2022.
Donna was born May 9, 1932, in Ottawa, Kansas, the daughter of Paul and Colleen (Silvius) LeGer. She graduated from Perry Rural High School, Class of 1950. Donna was united in marriage to Russell "Bud" Palmer in January of 1952; the couple later divorced. She worked for National Reserve Life Insurance Company from 1950-1955, and the Kansas Department of Revenue from 1986 until her retirement in 2006.
Donna's life was centered around her family, especially her grandsons and their activities. These last 15 months Donna was grateful to be able to spend every day living with her family in Iowa and enjoying lots of time with her great grandson. Donna loved to play basketball growing up and continued to play competitively after high school. She was an avid collector of owl figurines and enjoyed watching KU basketball.
Survivors include her daughter, Pam (David) Besser of Center Point, lowa; grandsons, Luke Besser of Center Point, lowa, and Dillon (Brittney) Besser of Cedar Rapids, lowa; great-grandson, Callum Besser; brother, Robert "Bob" H. (Mary) LeGer of Lawrence, Kansas; and nieces and nephews of Arizona, along with their families.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Colleen LeGer; and sister, Sandra Scott.
A visitation will take place from 5:00 -6:00 p.m. on Friday, January 20, 2023, at Parker-Price Funeral Home, 245 NW Independence Avenue, Topeka, Kansas. A memorial service will follow at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, January 20, 2023, at the funeral home.
