Obituary Notice: Donald V. Madison
Donald V. Madison, 64, of Hoyt, passed away Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at his home.
He was born May 30, 1946 in Kansas City, MO, the adopted son of Merle D. and Mary R. (Gormley) Madison. He was a 1963 graduate of Washington High School in Kansas City, KS. He served in the U.S. Navy, serving three tours in Vietnam. He received a PTA Degree in 1994 at Washburn University where he would later receive a BS in Healthcare Administration in December of 2008.
Settling near Topeka, KS; he was employed by Goodyear Tire and Rubber for 10 years. He later worked as a Physical Therapist Assistant throughout Northeast Kansas and as a national traveler for Healthcare Everywhere, based in Hilton Head, N.C.
He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Mayetta, KS, the Kansas Physical Therapy Association, the N.R.A., and was a past Vice-President of the Royal Valley PTO. He was a past coach for the Hoyt Little League Baseball teams. He was also a member of the National Campers and Hikers Association, Boy Scouts of America, American Legion Post No 400 and was a founding member of Vietnam Veterans Against The War organization.
Donald married Marsha Hildreth on December 31, 1981 in Mayetta, KS. She survives. Other survivors include a son, Mathew W. Madison, Topeka; a cousin, Spencer Madison, Everest, KS; his uncles and aunts, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Becker in Plainville, KS and Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Madison in Jackson, TN. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Joyce A. Fobes.
Mr. Madison was cremated. Memorial ceremonies will be 1 p.m., Friday, October 1, 2010, at the Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave, Topeka, KS 66608. Interment will follow at Upper Wolf Lutheran Cemetery, Robinson, KS.
