Donald R. Shultz, 70, of Topeka, passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born July 17, 1941 in Wamego, the son of Charles D. and Margaret A. Wyker Shultz. He graduated from Topeka High School in 1961. He was employed by the City of Topeka Water Department for 35 years before retiring in 1996.
Don married Barbara J. Barnard on April 24, 1966 near Wamego. She survives. Other survivors include their children, Theresa Shultz and Patrick (Diana) Shultz, five grandchildren, Corey, Dustin, Kelley, Ashley and Erika, one great-granddaughter and four sisters, Alice Ballinger, Nadine (Gene) Moeller, Cleta (Harold) Raine and Jean (Junior) Breymeyer. Don was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Kenny Ballinger.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave. Graveside committal services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday in Wamego City Cemetery, Wamego, KS. Don will lie in state and the family will receive friends two hours prior to service time at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Care Hospice Services, 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka, KS 66606.
