Donald Eugene Peterson, 88, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, October 6, 2022 at Autumn Home Plus in Topeka.
He was born September 27, 1934 in Scandia, the son of Edwin and "Bessie" (Higgins) Peterson.

Don was employed by the Menninger Foundation as a Grounds Foreman for 40 years before retiring in 1992.
On November 10, 1954, Don and Lois Darlene Blankenship were united in marriage enjoying more than 67 years together.
Don was an avid fisherman and enjoyed extending those skills to teaching his grandkids the art of baiting, casting, patience, removing fish, cleaning and eventually cooking them for fish fries. Camping, landscaping, and just being outdoors brought him great joy.
Don was a very devoted family man; always there for us and working extra jobs so we could go on vacations each summer to see family. He was our boat driver, our mechanic, our teacher, our mentor and our rock. He was very outgoing, never knew a stranger and was always willing to listen, help or offer advice. He loved to tease. He was ornery but had a huge heart. He always stressed safety. "That's the main thing!"
He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who loved his family dearly and they returned his love. He will be greatly missed.
Grateful to have shared his life, are wife, Lois Peterson; children, Debbie Weiler (Del), Denise Peterson and Craig Peterson (Linda); grandchildren, Brad Weiler (Christy), Hollee Townsend, Meg Jones (Aaron), Nick Guindon (Kelly), Cole Peterson, Conner Peterson; great-grandchildren, Kade, Tylor, Jayden & Blaine Townsend, Mia and Talan Weiler, Ansley, Jase and Roli Jones and Rhett Guindon; and brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and many friends.
