Donald L. Reed, 53, Topeka, died Saturday, Aug. 9, 2003, at his home. He was born Aug. 13, 1949, in Topeka, to John Earl and Jesse Ilene Holmes Reed. He graduated from Seaman High School. He owned and operated Dons Garage Doors. He was a softball umpire for more than 30 years. He attended Northland Christian Church. He was known for his love of dancing, music and KU Jayhawks. Survivors include a brother, Gerrald Reed, Topeka; a sister, Joanna M. Zeferjahn, Topeka; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2003, at Northland Christian Church. Burial will be in Grantville Cemetery in Grantville. Donald L. Reed will lie in state at Parker-Price Mortuary after 3 p.m. Tuesday, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Sunrise Optimist Club, 720 N.W. 50th, Topeka, 66617, or to American Diabetes Association, 837 S. Hillside, Wichita, 67211.
