OBITUARY: Donald Lee Ackors
Donald Lee Ackors, 68, Topeka, died Thurs., April 27, 2006, at his home. He was born Sept. 23, 1937, at Phoenix, AZ, the son of Andrew Jackson and Naomi Evelyn (Harold) Ackors.
He served in the U.S. Air Force and had worked at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. for 34 years before retiring. He was a member of Golden Rule Lodge # 90, A.F. & A.M.
Donald was married to Janet Louise Hawkins on June 2, 1962 at Miami, OK. She preceded him in death on May 26, 2005. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Ira Ackors, Sr., of Topeka.
Surviving are 5 daughters: Donna Pflaum of Osawatomie, Renee Edwards of Carbondale, Sondra Keith of Topeka, Paula Wathen of Mayetta, and Tina Myrick of Holton; a brother: Dan Ackors of Perry; 2 sisters: Edna Radford of Portland, OR and Shirley Holcomb of Rogers, AR; 15 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 10:00 a.m., Mon., May 1, 2006, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 N.W. Independence, followed by military honors conducted by a Fort Riley U.S. Army Detail. Memorial contributions may be made to the Donald Ackors Memorial Fund c/o Credit Union One of Kansas, P.O. Box 1128, Topeka, KS 66601.
