Donald G. Hildebrand, 80, of Topeka, passed away Sunday, July 3, 2016.
He was born May 14, 1936, in LeRoy, Kansas, the son of Edwin and Bernice (Thorne) Hildebrand. He was a graduate of Seaman High School and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1954, where he served in Korea and Japan. Upon his return, he played football at Kansas Wesleyan University.
Don married Flora L. "Punky" Coley on January 11, 1958, in Orange, California. She survives.
Don was employed by Security Benefit in Topeka for 38 years. He was a member of Topeka Craftsman's Club, Wheatheart Square Dance Club, Ducks Unlimited, and an avid supporter of 4-H and High School rodeo. Don was a well-known horse show announcer and judge.
Other survivors include daughters, Cindy (Tim Williams) Hildebrand, Donna Hildebrand, and Sheri (Larry) Wehner; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Gary.
Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 8, 2016, at Penwell-Gabel - Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Avenue, Topeka. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Aliceville, Kansas. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
