Donald W. Falk, 63, Silver Lake, passed away on Friday, November 21, 2008 at Midland Hospice House.
Don was born December 15, 1944 at Wheaton, the son of Arthur A. and Elsa K. (Honig) Falk. He graduated from Wheaton High School in 1963.
He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church since 1966, where he served as an usher and on the board of trustees; the Silver Lake Planning Commission for 15 years; Silver Lake Booster Club; and coached his sons' baseball and basketball teams for many years.
He had been employed as a welder at Deutz-Allis Corporation, Midwest Machine Works, Inc, and retired from Topeka Foundry and Iron Works, Inc in 2006.
Don married Virginia "Ginny" M. Owen on July 2, 1966 at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Wheaton. She survives. Other survivors include sons, Darren and wife, Julie Falk, and their daughter, Jadan (4), Silver Lake, Kevin and wife, Chris Falk, and their daughters, Emily (5) and Addison (3), Topeka; brothers, Myron Falk, Topeka, Kenneth Falk and Milton Falk, both of Onaga. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Geraldine.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at Faith Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at Silver Lake Cemetery. Don will lie in state at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence, after 2:00 p.m. on Monday and family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
