OBITUARY: Donald Eugene Hendrix, Sr.
Donald Eugene Hendrix, Sr., 63, Topeka died Thurs., July 27, 2006, at his home. He was born Oct. 28, 1942, at Little Rock, AR the son of Gertrude (McMahon) and James Hendrix, Jr.
Don attended Seaman Schools and served in the U.S. Navy for 10 years. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service before retiring in 1997. He was a member of Highland Heights Christian Church and the Lake Shawnee Golf Course Men's Club.
Don was married to Vonna L. (Herschell) on Sept. 7, 1962,, at Miami, OK. She survives of the home, Topeka.
Surviving in addition to his wife are 2 sons: Brian K. Hendrix and Donald E. Hendrix, Jr.; his father: James Hendrix, Jr.; a brother: Jerry Hendrix; a sister: Mary Hoffman; and 4 grandchildren, all of Topeka.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 31, 2006, at Highland Heights Christian Church. Don will lie in state after 12:00 noon, Sunday at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel where the family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m.
