Donald Charles Gillihan
Donald Charles Gillihan, 67, Topeka, died Tuesday, June 10, 2014. He was born October 16, 1946, at Gardner, the son of Hobart Robert and Mary Rose (Loftus) Gillihan.
Don graduated from Edgerton High School in 1965. He served in the U.S. Army 1966-1968. He was a carpenter working for Carrothers Construction Company of Paola and Walters-Morgan Construction Company of Manhattan.
He was a loving husband, dad, grandpa, brother, uncle, and friend. Don was hard working, ornery, and loved to joke.
He was married to Kathy Dolifka on October 12, 1974, in Lawrence.
Surviving are his wife: Kathy Gillihan of Topeka; children: Lisa Demaree (Mark) of Kansas City, Missouri, Darryn Gillihan (Lori) of Topeka, and Dustyn Gillihan of Topeka; grandchildren: Brandon Demaree, Rienne Demaree, and Pa-pa's little P.J., Paige Gillihan; and siblings: Ken Gillihan (Kathie) Bucyrus, Gerry Sue Brite (Gene) of Edgerton, and Rick Gillihan of Gardner.
Don was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: John and Paul; and a sister: Mary Jo Jukes.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM, Saturday, June 14, 2014, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Avenue, Topeka. Interment in Rochester Cemetery.
Don will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Friday, at the funeral chapel where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00 PM.
