Dixie LaVon Moore
Dixie LaVon Moore, 79, Topeka, died Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at her home. She was born May 17, 1934, at Onaga, the daughter of Walter D. and Daisy (Noland) Graf.
Dixie graduated from Onaga High School in 1952. She had been a volunteer at the Topeka Rescue Mission and the Capper Foundation. She was an adult care provider for 40 years. Dixie attended the Family of God Church.
She was married Jerrold Barkyoumb on June 8, 1952, at Saint Paul's Lutheran Church, Duluth. They were divorced. Dixie was married to Melvin Francis Moore on January 29, 1963, in Topeka.
Surviving are her husband: Melvin Moore of the home; a son: Jerry "Squeak" Barkyoumb of Topeka; two daughters: Dawna Barkyoumb of Rossville and Ardie Moore of Topeka; four grandchildren: Troy Barkyoumb of Topeka, Tracy Barkyoumb of Topeka, Jessica Howard of Topeka, and Tamara Peters (Kelly) of
Gillette, Wyoming; and five great-grandchildren: Jennifer Howard, Austin Howard, Christopher Alejos, Christopher Peters, and Joey Peters. She was preceded in death by two sons: Danny Barkyoumb in 2003, and Darrell Barkyoumb in 2009, both of Topeka.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Avenue, Topeka. Interment in Prairie Home Cemetery.
Dixie will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Tuesday, at the funeral chapel where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 PM.
