Dixie J. Gregg, 79, of Topeka, passed away on Friday, June 9, 2006 at St. Francis Hospital. She was born on April 13, 1927 in Hoyt, the daughter of William R. and Ethel Foster Nixon. Dixie was a homemaker and worked at Jayhawk Grocers. She was a member of the Woman's Club and the Margaret Hill McCarter Group and also the Shrine Ladies Golfing Group. Dixie married Eddy Gregg on May 22, 1944 in Alma. He survives. Other survivors include one daughter, Glenda Massey and her husband, Herb, one sister, Betty Kruger, sister-in-law, Faye Nixon Green, daughter-in-law, Anna DeThomas, three grandchildren, Anita Hockman, Lisa Gregg and Jim Massey and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Larry E. Gregg, grandson, Timothy J. Gregg and two brothers, Russell R. "Jack" Nixon and William R. "Bob" Nixon. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 N.W. Independence Ave. Burial will follow in Prairie Home Cemetery. Dixie will lie in state Noon today at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contribuions may be given to the Arab Shrine Temple Golfers Unit, 1305 S.
