OBITUARY: Mrs. Dixie A. Gilchrist
Mrs. Dixie Allene Gilchrist, 86, of Topeka died Mon. morning, Jan. 31, 2005 at Eventide Convalescent Center. She was born Oct. 12, 1918 at Norcatur, KS the daughter of Elva Earl "Jim" and Thelma Faith (Sutton) Vanover.
She was married to James Arthur Gilchrist who preceded her in death on Jan. 6, 1948. Also preceding her in death was an infant daughter, Sharon Kay.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law: Barbara Ann and Robert Forrester, of Hoyt; a son and daughter-in-law: James L. and Nancy L. Gilchrist of Topeka; a sister, Opal "Peg" Coultis of Topeka; 2 brothers: Clifton "Pete" Vanover of Houston, TX and Gerald Dean Vanover of Austin, TX; 8 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM, Fri., Feb. 4, 2005 at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence. Interment will be in Penwell-Gabel's Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Gilchrist will lie in state from 3:00 PM Thursday to 1:00 PM Friday at the funeral chapel.
