Dick Welch, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, left this world on October 25, 2024, in Topeka, Kansas, just shy of his 91st birthday. Born on October 26, 1933, Dick's life was one of passion and dedication, leaving behind memories to be celebrated by those who loved him.
A man of many interests, Dick found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was known for his love of Westerns, with a particular fondness for the classic show "Rawhide." An avid camper, he enjoyed the great outdoors and was a proud member of a camper’s club, relishing every moment spent around the campfire with his friends and family.
Dick's professional journey was equally impressive. He served his country by enlisting in the Air Force, where he honed his skills as a radar technician. Later, he drove gas trucks for Farmer's and operated his own Phillips 66 gas station in Silver Lake.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Doris (Decker) Welch, with whom he shared a beautiful marriage for over 68 years after getting married on September 28, 1956.
Though he has left this earthly realm, Dick's memory will forever live on in the hearts of Doris, Debra, Dale, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren and all who were fortunate enough to know him. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Darrin Welch, whose absence he carried with grace and love.
As we remember Dick Welch, let us celebrate his lifelong dedication to family, and the countless lives he touched with his kindness. He will be deeply missed, but his light will continue to shine brightly in the stories we share and the love we hold in our hearts.
Honoring his wishes, cremation is planned and no services will be held.
