Dewey Dee Green, 68, Topeka, died Tuesday, January 3, 2017, at Midland Hospice House, Topeka. He was born April 16, 1948, in Topeka, the son of Dewey David and Helen Mae (Moore) Green.
Dewey graduated from Seaman High School. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves. In May, 2008, he retired from the Burlington Northern Santa Fe General Offices. He was a member of Northland Christian Church. He made being a Grandpa his job and never missed a single event involving his grandchildren. Dewey was an avid sports fan and a friend of Bill W. for over 8 ½ years.
He was married to Mariella McCarthy on April 21, 1972, in Topeka.
Surviving are his wife: Mariella Green of the home; two sons: Lance Green (Courtney) of Topeka and Ryan Green (Nicole) of Kansas City, MO; a brother: John Green (Carolyn) of Topeka; and four grandchildren: Parker and Presley Green of Topeka, and Avery and Oscar Green of Kansas City, MO.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, Saturday, January 7, 2017, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Avenue, Topeka, with Reverend Larry T. Preston officiating. Interment will be in Prairie Home Cemetery, NW 35th & Menoken Road, Topeka.
Dewey will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Friday, at the funeral chapel where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 PM.
Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Hospice House, 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka, KS 66606-2800.
