Derrill Dean Campbell, 79, of Meriden, passed away on November 14, 2020 at Stormont Vail Hospital.
He was born on July 23, 1941 to Charles and Margaret Campbell in Horton, KS. He attended and graduated from Topeka High School.
In the fall of 1959 following high school Derrill joined the Army National Guard, where he served as a mechanic for 8 years.
On March 2, 1968, Derrill married Peggy McKinney in Topeka, KS.
Derrill was employed as an Accounting Clerk for the Santa Fe and BNSF Railroad, retiring after 30 plus years. He served as a volunteer fireman for Rock Creek Township for 30 years, retiring as a Captain in 2011.
He was a member of the Meriden Post 0225 VFW and the Ozawkie American Legion.
Derrill loved being around and rescuing dogs, vanilla ice cream and enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandsons. He would attend any events that they were involved in.
Derrill is survived by his sons, Chuck (Vickie) Campbell and Scott (Carie) Campbell; two grandsons; and sister-in-laws, Charlotte Campbell and Judy Nudson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Peggy Campbell; brothers, Jay Campbell and Howard (Janice) Campbell; sister, Ann King; and brother-in-law, Patrick McKinney.
