Della May Smith, 82, of Meriden, passed away on December 2, 2021 at Stormont Vail Hospital.
She was born on November 1, 1939 to Claude and Meta "Merle" (Lederer) Flowers at Havensville, KS. She graduated from Havensville High School in 1957.
She was married to Charles Smith and had 5 children together. They later divorced. She married Edward Schimmel and together had 2 children. They later divorced. She married Thomas "Tom" Smith on February 23, 1982. He preceded her in death in November of 2020.
Della was a homemaker for the beginning of her life while her children were in school. Later in life she worked at Federal Home Loan Bank for over 10 years before retiring.
Della loved to oil paint, specializing in outside scenes, vegetable gardening, canning her vegetables, and animals. She loved to tell stories from her past and her childhood and go down memory lane. Della enjoyed traveling. She went on a trip to Hawaii with her sister Donis. Della loved to visit the casino and eat all you can eat crab legs.
Della is survived by her children, Teresa (Kevin) Moriarty, Rodney (Vicki) Smith, Richard Smith, Michelle (Craig) Sollars, Jason Smith, and Michael Smith; 10 Grandchildren and 13 Great Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by husband, Thomas "Tom" D. Smith; both of her parents; siblings Dale Flowers, Delbert Flowers, Donis Manuel, and Delaine Jeanneret; son, Thomas Smith; and 1 Great Grandchild, Savannah Myrick,
Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 8, 2021, 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Parker Price Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 9, 2021, 11:00 am at the Parker Price Funeral Home followed by graveside service at Meriden Cemetery.
