Delbert "Lee" Allen, 73, of Topeka, passed away Saturday, November 21, 2020.
He was born August 17, 1947, in Abilene, Kansas, the son of Ralph and Roberta (Keim) Allen. He graduated from Chapman High School and attended Vo-Tech School in Topeka earning his degree in IT.
He served proudly in the United States Navy for four years as a Sonar Technician aboard the U.S.S. EUGENE A. GREENE (DD-711) and U.S.S. CORRY (DD-817). He reached the rank of Petty Officer Third Class and was Honorably discharged after serving from 1966-1970.
He was a kind, loving husband to his wife Teresa of twenty-nine years, he was an amazing dad to his son Nathan and Tanner. He was also proud of his son Nathan for graduating from Wichita State University and getting married to his wife Rebecca. He enjoyed helping his neighbors out when they needed it. He loved when his family and animals were around him. When he wasn't at home he enjoyed taking trips to the lake with his wife Teresa. He knew whenever his favorite teams were playing like the KC Chiefs or the Kstate Wildcats. When he wasn't watching the news or enjoying a game show he would do things around the house to make sure it looked nice.
While he was growing up he was involved in the 4-H club, him and his brother Bob would show Hampshire pigs. When he wasn't showing pigs he would enjoy going to bible school at his local church. In his highschool years in Chapman KS he was a wrestler. While his son Nathan was on the swim team he was a stroke and turn judge. He was very proud of his son while he was on the swim team.
Delbert married Teresa Plamann on March 28, 1991 in Topeka, KS she survives of the home. Other survivors include his son, Nathan Lee (Rebecca) Allen; brother, Roy (Judy) Allen; brother, Eugene Allen; sister, Marjorie (Jim) Wilson and his twin brother, Bob "Dee" (Connie) Allen. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Tanner Allen; sister-in-law, Ellen Allen, and infant brothers, Larry Allen and Lloyd Allen.
Lee will lie in state from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at Parker-Price, 245 NW Independence Ave., Topeka. A Graveside Service will be at 1:00 pm., Friday, November 27, 2020 at Mount Hope Cemetery, 4700 SW 17th Street, Topeka. Masks are required while attending visitation and graveside services.
