On Tuesday, October 1st, 2019, Deidre Marie Selk passed away peacefully with her husband Keith Selk by her side.
Deidre was an extremely giving person having worked as a nurse for over 30 years and worked at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis and Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka. Deidre last worked at Harmony Healthcare. She was an active member of the Topeka community working with groups such as the Junior League of Topeka and The American Heart Association. She enjoyed sailing on the ocean and was an avid tennis and pickleball player. She was diagnosed with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer in the spring of 2018, but routinely beat the odds, surviving over 18 months while continuing to work full-time and enjoy many priceless moments with her family. The lives she has touched are too numerous to truly count and her presence will be deeply missed by her family and the Topeka community.
She married Keith Selk on June 16, 2018 at Lake Shawnee.
She is survived by her parents Gail and Delores Moss, her brother Bryan Moss, sons Brandon (Christine) Barnett and Derek Selk, her daughters Aislynn (Shawn Milliken) Barnett, Elise (Brandon) Bisconer, and Taylor Selk, and her adored granddaughter Beatrice Barnett.
A rosary service will be recited on Monday evening, October 7, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. at Davidson Funeral Home. Following the rosary, the family will greet friends until 8:00 pm. Mass of Celebration will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at Mater Dei-Holy Name Catholic Church, 911 SW Clay, Topeka, Kansas 66606. Memorial contributions may be made to the Beatrice Barnett Education Fund at Envista Credit Union.
