Deborah Halstead
Deborah "Debbie" Joann Halstead, 63, of Topeka passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at her residence at Brighton Place West. Debbie was born September 23, 1951 in Topeka, KS, the daughter of William Gilchrist and Dorothy (Dahlstrom) Gilchrist, and was the youngest of five children.
She attended Topeka High School before starting her career at Josten's where she worked for over 37 years before retiring in 2008. Debbie faithfully attended Community Church where she developed her relationship with God. She was a kind soul who loved her family especially her grand-children.
Debbie married Gregg Halstead but they later divorced. She had a son and a daughter from the marriage; Gregg Halstead, Jr. and Traci Rabusic. Debbie was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Robert "Bobby" Gilchrist and a sister Charlotte Yost.
Survivors include her brother, Bill (Linda) Gilchrist of Topeka, KS; her sister Sandra (Francis) Everhart of New Port Richey, FL; her children Gregg Halstead, Jr. and Traci (Rich) Rabusic of Clive, IA; as well as her grand-children, Haven Lackey, Carter Lackey and Reed Rabusic all of Clive, IA.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, Monday, June 22, 2015, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Avenue, Topeka. Interment in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery.
Debbie will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Sunday, at the funeral chapel where the family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 PM.
