Dean Meggison, 89, of Topeka, passed away Sunday, December 18, 2011 at a local care center.
Dean was born September 6, 1922 in Carbondale, the son of Irving and Mary Meggison
He attended schools in Topeka. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was a member of First Baptist Church in Topeka. He was a devoted husband and father. He was an avid fisherman. He was a printer and owned and operated Printcraft Printing Company, retiring in 1987.
Dean married Helen "Blanche" Painter on May 31, 1946 in Topeka. She survives. Other survivors include a son, Dale (Carol) Meggison, Tecumseh, Steve (Karla) Meggison, Topeka; grandchildren, Adina Rittenhouse, Brett Meggison, Jake Meggison, Aaron Meggison; and 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 12 siblings.
A graveside ceremony will be held at10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 22, 2011 at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery, 3616 SW 6th Ave, Topeka. Dean will lie in state after 3 p.m. on Wednesday at the Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave, Topeka.
