Dean LeRoy Anderson, 86, of Topeka passed away Friday, December 10, 2021.
He was born November 11, 1935, in Elmont, Kansas, the son of Clarence and Ruth Anderson. He graduated from Silver Lake High School in 1953.
Dean worked as a Sheriff before serving in the United States Airforce for six years. After his return home, he was employed by Rylie Construction Company. In 1963, he married his wife, Connie Anderson (Slavens). They enjoyed 58 years of marriage. Their daughter Terri Sue (Susie) was born in 1964.
Dean started his own business Dean's Excavating, Inc. in 1970. He owned the Corner Pub for a short time in 1972. After 30 years in business, Dean retired from Dean's Excavating and farmed.
Survivors include his wife, Connie, of Topeka; a daughter, Susie (Dan) Weick of Topeka; two granddaughters, Kelsie (Stephone) Stephens and Sabrina (Kyle) Knudson both of Topeka; one great grandson Carter Stephens, two great granddaughters, Addison Stephens and Joleen Knudson; brother Hap (Marsha) Anderson, of Silver Lake; a sister Marie Reeder of Marshall, Missouri, He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Wilbur Anderson, California, two sisters Virginia Baker of Indiana, and Erma (Ova) Harden of Silver Lake.
Dean played many sports including softball, baseball, bowling, skiing and golf. He also enjoyed playing cards with his friends. In the 70's, Dean owned race cars, #51 driven by Jim Buswell, #30 driven by Jim Dreasher and Thad Dosher, and #11 driven by Galen Schaefer.
Dean and Connie enjoyed several vacations, dancing and golfing together. Dean's family was his pride and joy. His time spent with them, was what he treasured most. Friends and family were always welcomed to his home. He will be missed by many.
Visitation where the family will receive friends will be on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Parker Price Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Thursday, December 16, 2021 at 11:00 am at Parker Price Funeral Home. Graveside service will follow at Prairie Home Cemetery.
