David Loral Rake
David Loral Rake, 92, Topeka, died Thursday, Oct. 14, 2004, at Aldersgate Village, Topeka. He was born May 1, 1912, at Richland, the son of David Earl and Maude Studebaker Rake. Mr. Rake was an assistant foreman for the City of Topeka Water Works Department, where he worked for 39 years. He served in the Army during World War II. Among his decorations and awards were the Bronze Star Medal, Good Conduct Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with one Silver Service Star, and the World War II Victory Ribbon. He was a member of the Kansas Avenue United Methodist Church. He married Winona Hamilton on March 31, 1934, in Topeka. She preceded him in death on June 12, 1992. Surviving are his son, David, and his wife, Barbara Rake, Topeka; and a brother, Alfred Rake, Basehor. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel's Memorial Park Cemetery, Topeka, where military honors will be conducted by a funeral deta il from Fort Riley. Mr. Rake will lie in state after noon Sunday at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel , where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Aldersgate Village Good Samaritan Fund, 7220 S.W.
