OBITUARY: David Baker, Jr.
David Baker, Jr., 76, Topeka went to be with his Lord, Tues., March 14, 2006 at Midland Hospice House surrounded by his family. He was born Nov. 15, 1929, at Wamego the son of David H. Baker, Sr. and Alice E. (Scott) Baker.
In 1948, David graduated from Wamego High School. During the Korean Conflict he was a Corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps. He worked for General Printing / Graphic Promotions for 40 years. He was a member of Rolling Hills Christian Church where he was baptized in July, 2005. The loves of David's life were his wife and family.
He was married to Kay Meier on Jan. 15, 1951, at Topeka. She survives of the home.
In addition to his wife of 55 years, survivors include 3 daughters: Cathy Caywood and husband, Mike, of Phoenix, AZ, and Diana Gillespie, and husband, Keith, and Lori Ellis, and husband, Derek, of Topeka; 2 sons: Randy Baker of Grantville and David E. Baker III of Topeka; a sister: Kathryn Clinton and husband, Lawson, of Lovington, NM; a brother: Kennyth Baker and wife, Elna, of Wamego; and 6 grandchildren: Dustin Gillespie of Norman, OK, Ashley Hughes and husband, Jesse, Sarah Gillespie, Chad Ellis, Josh Ellis, and Autumn Baker, all of Topeka.
Memorial services will be at 10:00 a.m., Fri., March 17, 2006 at Rolling Hills Christian Church followed by military honors conducted by the U.S. Marine Corps. The family will receive friends from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel 245 N.W. Independence.
