David A. Wells

David A. Wells, 83, Topeka, passed away on Wednesday, July 07, 2010, at a local hospital. David was born February 9, 1927, in Richland, the son of James W. and Iciebelle T. (Hartman) Wells. He graduated from Junction City High School in 1944, and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked as a Business Agent for the Labor Local #142 and later for May, Ransom & Sheets as a supervisor. He was a member of Golden Rule Lodge #90, AF&AM and Media Grotto. David married Donna Swenson on September 9, 1944, in Oskaloosa. She survives. Other survivors include daughters, Betty Jo Long, Brenda Wells, both of Topeka, Sheryl (Steven) Lesiak, Summerfield, FL; sons, David A.(Diana) Wells, Oak Grove, MO, Anthony E. Wells, Grandview, MO; 10 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; half brother, Stanley Wells, Montana; and half sister, Holly Wells, North Carolina. He was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Farr, and half brother, Steven Wells. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, July 12, 2010, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Gardens. Golden Rule Lodge # 90, AF & AM will conduct Masonic services, and a Ft. Riley U.S. Army Detail will conduct military honors. David will lie in state at the funeral home after 2:00 p.m. on Sunday and visitation will be from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Oakland Presbyterian Church, 2810 NE Thomas,Topeka,Kansas 66616 or American Heart Association, 5375 SW 7th, Topeka, Kansas 66606.
