David A. Wells, 83, Topeka, passed away on Wednesday, July 07, 2010, at a local hospital. David was born February 9, 1927, in Richland, the son of James W. and Iciebelle T. (Hartman) Wells. He graduated from Junction City High School in 1944, and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked as a Business Agent for the Labor Local #142 and later for May, Ransom & Sheets as a supervisor. He was a member of Golden Rule Lodge #90, AF&AM and Media Grotto. David married Donna Swenson on September 9, 1944, in Oskaloosa. She survives. Other survivors include daughters, Betty Jo Long, Brenda Wells, both of Topeka, Sheryl (Steven) Lesiak, Summerfield, FL; sons, David A.(Diana) Wells, Oak Grove, MO, Anthony E. Wells, Grandview, MO; 10 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; half brother, Stanley Wells, Montana; and half sister, Holly Wells, North Carolina. He was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Farr, and half brother, Steven Wells. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, July 12, 2010, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Gardens. Golden Rule Lodge # 90, AF & AM will conduct Masonic services, and a Ft. Riley U.S. Army Detail will conduct military honors.
