Darryl Leroy Little, 97, of Silver Lake, passed away Thursday, October 28, 2010.
He was born May 10, 1913 in Gilman City, MO, the son of Jesse and Verna C. (Neff) Little. He was a graduate of Mt. Moriah High School, Mt. Moriah, MO.
He farmed in Northwest Missouri until 1954 and moved to Silver Lake, KS and farmed until retirement in 1978. After his retirement he operated the Thick and Thin Sawmill north of Silver Lake for seventeen years. He served as President of Kaw Valley Electric and was on the Board of Trustees for many years and served on Grove Township Board. He was a 56 year active member of the Silver Lake United Methodist Church.
Darryl married Freda N. Gibler on February 20, 1935 in Bethany, MO. She survives. Other survivors include two sons, Stanley (Dixie) Little, Topeka and James Little, Silver Lake; two daughters, Meredith Domme, Amarillo, TX and Sue (Brad) Haynes, Topeka; nine grandchildren, Deborah Phelps, Randal Little, Beverlee Brokeshoulder, Gelene Tiller, J.D. Little, Alan Domme, Mark Domme, Bradford Haynes and Brooke Haynes and fourteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers, Elmo, Arwood and Neal Little.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m., Monday, November 1, 2010 at the Silver Lake United Methodist Church, 204 Madore Street, Silver Lake, KS 66539. Interment will follow at Walnut Hill Cemetery, North of Silver Lake. Mr. Little will lie in state after 1 p.m., Sunday at the Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave, Topeka, KS 66608, where the family will receive friends from 3-4 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Silver Lake United Methodist Church, P.O.
